Letter from the Director
Dear IEEE-HKN Members:
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nancy M. Ostin, CAE and I am the new Director of IEEE-HKN. I am delighted to join IEEE and in particular, to have the honor of working with the dedicated volunteers and members of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu.
A little bit about me: I have a background in Organizational Management and a BA in Communications from Emerson College. The CAE credentials refer to Certified Association Executive, the highest certification granted by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). I also hold a certificate of Organizational Management from the US Chamber of Commerce.
My professional experience is almost exclusively in working the non-profits and charitable organizations. Most recently, I was on staff at the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. Other professional positions have included President of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, The National Needlework Association and the Girl Scouts.
Now is a very opportune moment for our Society. The possibilities are great as we align our strength and tradition with the structure and organization of IEEE. Together we set a course for the IEEE-HKN of the future. I invite you to share your vision for expanded service, operational efficiencies, improved member experience, career resources, mobile access and on-line tools.
Let's look at our strategic direction, international expansion, and additional ways to serve and support our members at our Universities, Industry and at the Professional level. I will be reaching out to you as I dive into the time honored traditions of Eta Kappa Nu and seek your input on how to serve you better. I encourage you to contact me - my information is listed below. Your feedback and experience will be extremely valuable as we envision and plan the direction of IEEE-HKN in the coming years and beyond.
It is my pleasure to represent your vision and mission, and to work together with you to build on the 108 years of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Service, and Professional Contributions.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Nancy M. Ostin, CAE
