James A. D'Arcy
D'Arcy was initiated in 1963 into the Delta Mu chapter of Eta Kappa Nu at Villanova University. Since 1972, D'Arcy has been a member of the Outstanding Young Electrical and Computer Engineer Award Committee. He also served as chairman of the OYECE Award Committee during 1979 to 1985. While D'Arcy was chair, the Award Committee's activities became more national, and to this day, the OYECE Award program and banquet is an important HKN cornerstone.

D'Arcy also served as chair of the OYECE 50th Anniversary Committee, celebrating the 50-year history of OYECE Award, for which the committee published a book of all past OYECE winners.

D'Arcy was elected to the HKN Board of Governors and served as the East Region Director from 1983 to 1985. He was elected HKN National Vice President in 1990, and as HKN National President in 1991. While a national officer, D'Arcy took part in updating the Constitution and Bylaws of Eta Kappa Nu. As president, he visited HKN headquarters in Rolla, Missouri, to get a better overal view of the the society's operation. He also wrote articles for "The Bridge" magazine to describe some of HKN's key activities.

D'Arcy has visited several schools to help promote HKN, including Arizona State University, Florida International University, and Wilkes University. D'Arcy also has served as a juror for the Outstanding ECE Student Award and for the Outstanding ECE Teacher Award.

In 2000, D'Arcy received a special service award from the Association of College Honor Societies in conjunction with the ACHS 75th anniversary. This award was presented to the top five individuals (three living and two deceased) who have been the greatest contributors to HKN over its then 96-year lifetime. The recipients for this award were selected by all living past presidents of Eta Kappa Nu.

Beginning in 2003, D'Arcy became co-chairman of the Vladimir Karapetoff Outstanding Technical Achievement Award. In May 2004, he assumed the role of chairman for this important HKN program.
